A view about Singapore Hindu Temples

Singapore has rich history of Tamil Settlers which can be seen number of temples built following south Indian tradition. All the Hindu festivals are celebrated in a traditional and grand manner. During "Margazhi" month, all traditional pujas followed including distribution of free prasadams almost in all temples. Some temples having silver chariots for taking deities around temple during important festival days. There is a self service machine (kiosk) for entering details needed for Archanai like name of person for whom it is done, gothram, nakshathram, etc... After entering details first time, a serial number will be provided which can be used for future occasion.  All temples are well maintained and also having bath room facilities and drinking water.

Here, I have listed a few temples

Maha Mariamman temple in China town and Yishun

Now explaining in brief about each Hindu temples in Singapore :

1. Sri Mariamman temple in China town built in 1827 (oldest one). There will be "FIRE WALKING" festival during Oct month which is famous one. The temple at walkable distance from China town MRT and there are lot of shops on way to temple.Temple timings in all days 7 AM - 12 Noon & 5.30 PM - 8.30 PM







2. Sri Thandayuthapani temple in Tank road built in 1859. Nearest MRT is "Dhoby Gaut". Temple timings : 8 AM to 12 Noon and 5.30 PM to 8.30 PM. Important festival is "Thai Poosam" During the festival there will be traffic diversion arranged by Govt. Milk pots procession during morning starting from Srinivasa perumal koil in Serangoon road and during evening Kavadi procession starting from same venue.




3. Sri Veera Mahaliamman temple in Serangoon road built in 1855. Nearest MRT "Little India". Temple timings : 5.30 AM to 12 Noon and 4PM to 9PM. Important days : Tuesday and Friday. Now the temple under renovation. Kumbabishekam expected in june 2014.





4. Sri Srinivasa Perumal temple in Serangoon road is a very beautiful and neatly maintained temple. Nearest MRT "Ferrer Park". Temple timings : 6.30 AM to 12 Noon and 6 pm to 9 pm. Hanumanth Jayanthi will be celebrated in a grand manner here.





5. Sri Vadabadrakali Amman temple in Serangoon road is also famous temple which is located near Srinivasa perumal temple. Sculptures in this temple are beautiful. Naga devada puja is famous in this temple.





6. Sri Krishnar temple in waterloo street also a famous temple. Nearest MRT "Bugis". Near Fortune centre.




7. Sri Senbaga Vinayagar temple in Ceylon road (Near Katong Laksa) built in 1850. Nearest MRT "Paya Laber". Timings : 6AM to 12 Noon and 5.30PM to 9 PM. Dwarapalakas at base of tower is a rare sight. Golden dome capped over Moolavar.





8. Sri Siva temple is located in Geylang Ave 2 & 3 is one of the famous temple dedicated for Lord Siva. Pradosham and Sivarathri festivals conducted here. Nearest MRT "Paya Laber".





9. Sri Siva Krishnar temple at Marsiline rise is located between Woodlands and marsiline MRT. Pradosam function celebrated here. Siva and Krishnar as Moolavar. Vahanam "Nandhi" and Garudan" opposite to main deity.



10. Sri Ramar temple at Changi village located near Pasir Res MRT. Every month, 1st sunday there will be villaku pooja in the temple. Gents and ladies can participate in this event. Rama Navami and Hanumanth Jayanthi will be celebrated in grand manner. 



  
 11. Sri Murugan Temple at Jurang East is located near Jurong East MRT.



12. Arasakesari Sivan temple in Sungai Kadut Avenue opposite to Mandai Estate. Nearest MRT " Kranji"
This temple located inside Industrial Estate.




13. Arulmigu Velmurugan Gnana Muneeswarar temple in Rivervale Crescent near Rumbia LRT. Can be reached from Senkang MRT. Timings : 6.30AM to 12 Noon and 5.30PM to 9.30PM.






14. Sri Manmatha Karuneeswarar temple in Kallong road near Lavendar MRT built in the year 1888. 



15. Sri Balasubramanyar Sannadhi at Industrial park and located between Yishun and Sembawang MRT. Hanumanth Jayanthi celebrated in grand manner here. Big hanuman statue is here.

16. Sri Maha Mariamman temple located between Yishun and Katib MRT. Most of the sannadhis capped with golden plate dome. Very beautiful sculptures and neatly maintained. Canteen also available inside temple premises. 




17. Sri Veeramuthu Muneeswarar temple inside Industrial park at Yishun (nearby Murugan temple).



18. Sri Vairavimada kaliamman temple is at 2001, Lorong 8 inside Industrial park and near Polyclinic. Nearest MRT "Toe Payoh". This also very beautiful temple and having dining hall facility and kitchen. Also well maintained temple.




19. Sri Siva Durga temple is located near Potong Pasir MRT.  Main deity is Siva Durga for which special pooja will be performed. During Raghu Kalam on Tuesdays, Lots of pilgrims visited temple and light lamps on ghee poured in lemon. This temple having canteen facility and also dining area.




20. Sri Rudra Kaliamman temple in Depot Road near Common wealth MRT. This also having beautiful sculptures, well maintained. having kitchen and dining hall facility.



21. Layan Siddhi Vinayagar temple in Kiong Saik Road opposite to Ootram Park MRT. One of the famous Vinayagar temple attracting lots of pilgrims.




22. Sri Murugan Hill temple in Upper Bukit Timah Road. Nearest LRT "Bukit Panjong" can be reached from Choa Chu Kang MRT. Very beautiful sculptures, well maintained and double storey temple. 






23. Sri Krishna Mandir in Lorong 29, Geylang Road. Nearest MRT "Paya Laber". This temple in 3rd floor maintained by ISCON group. Dining hall in 4th floor.
